Deenra Privacy Policy

Deenra ("Deenra", "we", "us") is a halal food scanner and calorie tracker. We built it around a simple idea: your data stays on your phone. This policy explains exactly what the app does with information, in plain language.

The short version

• No account needed. You can use Deenra without signing up.
• Your history, food diary, settings, body stats and allergies are stored only on your device. We don't have a copy.
• No ads. No ad tracking. We never sell your data.
• Photos you take of labels or meals are sent securely to be analyzed, then not stored by us.
• Barcodes and search words are looked up in a public food database.

What stays on your device

The following is saved only in the app's storage on your phone. It is not sent to us:

• Your scan history and results
• Your food diary (what you logged, portions, calories and macros)
• Your settings: name (if you gave one), madhab, meat standard, goal, food allergies
• Body stats you enter (age, sex, height, weight) and your calculated calorie and protein targets
• Your daily scan count and subscription status

Deleting the app removes all of this. You can also clear your scan history anytime in the History tab, and delete individual entries.

What leaves your device, and why

1. Barcodes and searches → Open Food Facts.

When you scan a barcode or search for a product, the barcode number or your search words are sent to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to look up the product's ingredients and nutrition. When a product isn't halal or contains one of your allergens, we also search that database by product category to find alternatives. No personal information is sent with these requests. Open Food Facts has its own privacy policy.

2. Label and meal photos → our server → our AI provider.

When you use Scan a label or Snap a meal, the photo you take or choose is resized and sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude AI), to read the ingredients or identify the food. The result comes back to your phone.

• We do not store your photos or the results on our server.
• Anthropic processes the photo only to return the result, under its commercial terms and privacy policy. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models by default.
• Please don't photograph people, documents, or anything besides food and labels.

3. Purchases → Apple.

If you subscribe to Deenra Pro, payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts and basic device information, not your name or payment details. See its privacy policy.

Camera and photos

Deenra asks for camera access only to scan barcodes, labels and meals. It asks for photo library access only when you choose to pick a photo. Camera images used for barcode scanning are processed on your device and never leave it.

What we don't do

• We don't show ads or use advertising or tracking SDKs.
• We don't sell, rent or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.
• We don't collect your location.

Health and allergy information

Body stats, goals and allergies are used only on your device to calculate your targets and warn you about allergens. They are never sent to us.

Children

Deenra is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

Because your personal data stays on your device, you're in control of it: edit it in Profile, clear it in History, or delete the app to remove everything. If you have questions or requests about your data, contact us below. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights; we'll honor them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data (for example, if we add optional account backup), we'll update this policy and the date above, and tell you in the app before the change applies to you.
